The Squared-Unit Rule
When a length factor is squared, the area factor must also be squared. Because 1 m = 100 cm, 1 m² = 100 × 100 = 10,000 cm².
Practical Examples
- Room floor: length × width.
- Rectangle 5 m × 4 m = 20 m².
- 1 hectare is a 10,000 m² area, such as 100 m × 100 m.
